Welcome

It is said that you can get anything in Van Alstyne except a new pair of shoes. There are a few other things too, like live tropical fish and Thai food, but when it comes to counseling, you should not have to go to Sherman or McKinney. You should be able to find what you need right here at home.

My name is Christine Johnson, and I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1991. I graduated from Oklahoma University in 1986 with a degree in psychology, and then again with a master’s in human relations. Human relations prepared me for a career as a counselor, because I focused on classes grouped together and called “professional psychology.” I am also a registered nurse. I got my nursing degree from Excelsior College in 2004.

Please don’t assume that the “marriage and family” part means you can’t get what you need at the Van Alstyne Counseling Center. Everyone comes from a family, and many people are either in marriages, wish they were in marriages, had bad marriages or are planning to be in marriages. Anything that can make us unhappy or frustrated will have its roots in our families or marriages, but the good news is, everything we need to manage and improve those problems is within us.

I am, through and through, a person who wants to help you live your live more pleasantly, more happily, more contentedly, for whatever life there is (most of us don’t know we are near the end of our road, but some do), if you want my help. You define where you are, where you want to be. I help you evaluate both of those situations, and together we make a plan on how to get from where you are to where you want to be.

My hope is to help you find what you need within yourself, put it into action and make your life much more what you hope it would be.
